01:49 pm - I saw a play last night

Previous Entry Share Next Entry

I went to see a play called "The House of Yes" at Theater Schmeater last night. moesmith88 was the sound tech for the play, and had invited me to it.

It was like some really talented people made a theater in someone's garage. The set was cleverly arranged so they didn't have to ever really put any of it up, or take any of it down during the play. They used darkness to hide scene changes. It worked well. rosencrantz319 would've loved it.

Since this was the last show, there was a cast party afterwords and I got to talk to them all. I don't think I embarrassed moesmith88 too badly, even though I managed a couple of really dreadful puns. :-)

One actress who showed up (who wasn't in the current play) reminded me a little of dddragonlady. She had dddragonlady's presence, and frank honesty about things. It was interesting to see those traits in someone who was otherwise rather different. :-)

One of the actresses from the play (Erin) reminded me of Rochelle in her appearance and some mannerisms. She asked me something about Rochelle when I told her this, and because I hadn't really thought through what I thought of Rochelle such that I could say it briefly, I ended up launching into the story of how I knew her. Erin was rather taken aback I think. :-)

But, but... It's ART! Does it even matter what it was called or what the plot was or anything?

Me?! Never! *grin*

Actually, I'm going to alter the post soon to have the name of the play in it. :-)

It was a good performance. A rather twisted story. It's a play, and someone made a movie about it as well.

It was great to have you there, as well...I think you handled yourself quite well; no one I spoke to today at the strike (for which I was over an hour late - seems they changed the time and didn't tell me) didn't say "So, who was your friend?"...overall, it seems to have been a good thing :)
