Thanks to ubiquity for pointing out that apparently this was a mistake, and they're updating the policy to remove the offending terms. I'm quite relieved to learn this. Moving my journal was going to be a huge hassle.

For completeness, a link to my earlier post.

"After all, we can't even detect that you're even using ad blockers to begin with, so there's no point in us saying you can't."

Ah ha! I knew it.

Of course, that's not the point. But still.

Well...

There are a lot of little things you can do to try to detect it, but it's a hard problem. It would lead to a race between ad blockers and the detection algorithms. The ad blockers would likely win eventually, but I can think of some evil (though kind of intrusive) tricks that would be really hard to foil.

Oh good

I like having you pop up on my friends page, it would have sucked to know you were driven from LJ because of a stupid paperwork error. Also... wow, you're territorial about your computer. I know it's true, but I keep being surprised by the sheer ferocity you can display on the subject.

:-) Passionate men are sexy.

*grin* For the record, it's possible to 'import' journals from other sites into your friends page using LJ's syndication feature. I use that for a few things that I read that aren't LJ journals.

I'm going to point you at an interesting little tale called "The Right to Read". It's a dystopian scenario about what happens when authority feels that it has the right to decide what your computer can and can't do. :-) Perhaps the author can increase my sex appeal even further by proxy. *grin*

You really shouldn't be looking for help from RMS.

You can't deny that RMS is very passionate about his cause. :-)
