01:26 pm - Brute force

Previous Entry Share Next Entry

It is possible to open a tin can with a corkscrew and a claw hammer. The nice little can opener I bought from Amazon awhile back has gone missing, and the can openers we have left don't seem to always work. So today there was an exercise in brute force that largely worked.

The claw hammer was washed before and after for anybody who is worried about that. :-)

Funnily enough, you can use that same hammer plus a screw driver to open a bottle of wine. (My Oxo corkscrew broke. :^)

Oooh, I should've tried that recently at a party I was at where one of the corks disintegrated rather than pulling out when a corkscrew was slightly misused.

Holy Kitchen Gadgets, Batman. That OXO looks like something out of a scifi movie. Or a sex shop.

The way it opens cans seems almost magical. You don't think it's done anything, then you use the little pry gadget a bit and poof, the lid pops off.

I'm not sure which to praise: the cool gadget, or the simplicity of the brute force attack against the tin can's integrity.

What the world really needs is an army of kitchen robots. I want my can opener to utilize a laser system, be voice activated and have the ability to insult my mother.

Why must it be able to insult your mother? :-)
