I've written down a bunch of thoughts about Seattle. The place is obsessively trendy. It's very strange. Especially since grunge is a popular fashion statement. It makes for a strange contrast.

My hotel, The W Hotel Seattle is at the vanguard of this obsessive trendiness. It's an expensivish hotel, and it is truly nicer than most hotels I've been in. The staff are helpful and friendly. It's good.

But, being in there makes me feel like I'm inside a goth PowerMac. It's rather distressing. Thin LCD screens everywhere. Lots of glossy/glassy surfaces with black underneath. A hotel restaurant who's menu reads more like a style magazine for food. Even my hotel room has the glassy black thing going on. I felt bad about using the sink. Luckily the toilet is a plain porcelain looking affair, so I don't feel bad using it. But still...

I need to take pictures of the place. :-)

Dark and moody isn't entirely correct. But, I'll take pictures, so you'll see what I mean.

I think the interview went pretty well. :-)

Like I told you last night, the W takes pride in being "trendy" (tacky) and different. That's what their thing is.

Not all of seattle is trendy like that. I promise.

It's something I've seen cropping up in various parts of Seattle other than the W, though not all of Seattle is like that. It's just odd and disconcerting to me, not negative. :-)
