06:52 pm - I've decided
It's Amazon. I emailed ATD, asking them about 40 hours workweeks, and they essentially said that it's sort of expected that programmers work more than 40 hours a week, and that programmers who didn't weren't rewarded very highly. I've worked in an environment like that. I don't want to again. My time is precious to me. If I want to have a social life, and find someone to have kids with, I need my own time. If I want to be the kind of creative person on the job that I want to be, I need that time. What ATD wants isn't acceptable to me. I might do it if they paid me double what Amazon does, but they won't, and I'm not at all sure it'd be worth it even then.
I'm not going to tell ATD right away. I'm going to wait to see if I get an offer from them or not. And, if I do, I'll just turn it down. *sigh*
All of ATDs perks are like a well laid trap, trying to keep you at work. :-(
