The 8-10 glasses a day rule is complete bunk. I kinda thought it was. I know what being thirsty feels like, and I'm not thirsty enough to want to drink that much a day.

Current Mood: [mood icon] thirsty

Wish I'd tagged the source better in my memory, but I read something a while back that I think was by the guy who started the "8 glasses" guideline, only it was warped a lot in the process of popularization--he pointed out that it varied from person to person, should take into account the water in your food, and was 8 cups, not 8 drinking-glass-size glasses.

I tried drinking 8 glasses of water a day for a while, but I ended up spending an irritatingly large proportion of my time getting rid of it again.

*laugh* Happens to me too if I try to force myself to drink more than I'm thirsty for. Sometimes at other times too, and my theory then is that my body has something it would like to flush out. :-)

Drinking so much water makes me feel water-logged but not drinking water makes me feel bad too. I keep it to a moderate amount.
