On Sunday, klicrai, rainonthewind and I all went canoeing on Lake Washington. We mostly stayed in a fairly small area, and even then had many adventures with powered boat wakes. It was klicrai's idea, and she kept the precise details a surprise until the event.

We found an island and had lunch. klicrai read us a story. Then we paddled back and used a somewhat more adventurous and boat-wake laden route.

I got a sunburn on my face and arms. I was silly for forgetting the sunscreen.

All in all, it was a fun time. :-)

I tend to forget unless someone reminds me. Tells you how often I go out in the sun. :-)

I've rented canoes & rowboats from the UW Waterfront Activities Center and gone a little ways NNE along the UW shoreline, and across the boating lanes into the Arboretum. The latter, especially, can be lovely and quiet. And yes, sunscreen's vital.

Were you wandering that same area?

Yep. klicrai took us there as a bit of a surprise. Though she said to not bring anything we would not want to get thoroughly soaked, so we had some idea of what was going to happen. :-)

Lovely! What story did klicrai read?

I always use sunscreen when I go out because I am so pale. I either freckle or burn, if I happen to acquire a tan I usually look rather dirty.

She read part of a story by Jack Williamson called "With Folded Hands", a precursor to his "Humanoid" stories.
