Ha. For Christmas, my mom gave my brothers and I donations to the ELCA world hunger campaign, which were in the form of animals for sustainable living in 3rd world countries, kind of like <href="http://catalog.heifer.org/index.cfm">these</a>. My mom, being completely well-intentioned, tried the match each of our gifts with pets we've each owned, so my gift was fingerlings for a fish farm in Tanzania. Now, I'm not upset at all by the fact that people will eat the fish. But we all got a good laugh at my younger brother's gift of guinea pigs for remote villages in Colombia (or someplace like that), because my mom hadn't even considered that people would be eating the guinea pigs. "What, did you think they just milk them? Use their fur to knit sweaters??" Anyhow, that web site just reminded me of that...

(In retrospect, it seems horribly calloused and sad that we laughed on Christmas morning about hungry people trying to get sufficient meat for a meal from a guinea pig, but in any case, it was all pretty funny at the time.)

*chuckle* That is amusing. skylark77 would be both amused and apalled. She owns a guinea pig and two rabbits. :-)
