There is a very worrisome situation in TX where a whole group of legislatures are essentially exiled from their state and facing arrest for engaging in a political maneuver allowed by state law. The article can be found here.

They are exiled because they face arrest (for very questionable reasons, they are very right to be concerned about separation of powers) if they return. In order for the vote to have even been brought up in the first place, parlimentary procedure had to be changed. Refusing to show up to vote is part of parlimentary procedure in that particular state in extreme situations. It's been done before.
